Lynnwood's Adopted Codes page lists the 2021 Washington State Residential Code under Building Code, next to Lynnwood Municipal Code Title 16. The city page gives no effective date of its own. Washington's State Building Code Council lists the 2021 Washington State Residential Code as effective March 15, 2024.

Washington adopts that code through chapter 51-51 of the Washington Administrative Code, and the chapter has no state amendment to the clothes dryer exhaust section (M1502). We could not read Lynnwood Municipal Code Title 16 when we checked in September 2026, so this page cannot say whether Lynnwood changes the dryer duct rules.

Under the 2021 International Residential Code, a dryer exhaust duct can run at most 35 feet, minus an allowance for each elbow (M1502.4.6.1), or the length the dryer maker's installation instructions allow (M1502.4.6.2); the hose behind the dryer must be one listed piece of 8 feet or less (M1502.4.3); and the duct must end outside with a backdraft damper and no screen (M1502.3), and domestic booster fans are not allowed (M1502.4.5). Lynnwood's Development & Business Services Permit Center is at 19100 44th Ave W (425-670-5400, [email protected]), open Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4 PM, and the city's Online Permit Portal is where applicants apply for permits and request inspections. The city's Work Exempt from Permit list, marked Rev. 05-21-2021 and linked to the 2018 edition of the residential code, names among mechanical work that needs no permit the replacement of any minor part that does not alter approval of equipment or make such equipment unsafe; the list does not mention dryer vents.
