Peoria City Code Section 18-25 adopts the International Residential Code, 2018 Edition, as amended in that section. The section's history note ends with Ord. No. 2019-12, 5-21-19, and the code text gives no effective date. The city's own website could not be read when we checked in September 2026, so this page relies on the Peoria City Code as published by American Legal Publishing.

Section 18-25's amendments to the residential code include no change to the clothes dryer exhaust section (M1502). Peoria's amendments to the International Mechanical Code (Section 18-76) change that code's exhaust systems chapter at section 502.14 (motor vehicle operation) and add section 502.21 on carbon dioxide systems; neither mentions clothes dryers. This page does not quote the 2018 International Residential Code's dryer duct length limits.

Permits for dryer vent work in Peoria

Peoria City Code Section 18-1 vests the office of building official, for all matters pertaining to any building, plumbing, electrical or any other inspections, in the Development and Engineering Department. Peoria's residential code amendments reserve the permits section (R105) and say to refer to the Building Code of the City of Peoria Administrative Provisions for reserved sections. The city's amended International Building Code (Section 18-21), which the pages we read do not tie to the reserved residential section, lists mechanical work for which permits shall not be required, including replacement of any part that does not alter its approval or make it unsafe; the list does not mention dryer vents. We could not read the department's own permit pages when we checked in September 2026.

To recoup the cost of inspecting a slum property or a property not registered under A.R.S. 33-1902, the city assesses the owner $50.00 per hour per inspector, with a four-hour minimum fee for an inspection of a slum property.
