New Mexico's residential code rule (14.7.3 NMAC) adopts the 2021 International Residential Code, as amended, with an effective date of July 14, 2023, and says permits may be issued only under it after December 14, 2023. That rule deletes the residential code's mechanical chapters 12 through 23 and points to 14.9.2 NMAC, the 2021 New Mexico Mechanical Code, which adopts the 2021 Uniform Mechanical Code; Albuquerque's current building codes page lists both among its state codes.

The mechanical code rule takes the Uniform Mechanical Code's exhaust chapter (Chapter 5) as written except for one makeup air section (511.3), and says permits may be issued only under it after September 10, 2022. This page does not quote that code's dryer exhaust limits, which we could not read.

Permits for dryer vent work in Albuquerque

Permits go through the Planning Department's Building Safety Division (505-924-3320). Its permits page lists heating or cooling, installation of an exhaust hood, and installation of equipment or ductwork among projects that require a plumbing/mechanical permit, and says equipment or ductwork installation can only be completed by a licensed contractor; the page does not mention dryer vents.
