Ocala dryer vent code rules

As of October 12, 2026, the City of Ocala's Building Services page said the city follows all current state and national codes and listed the 2023 Florida Building Code and the 2020 National Electrical Code. The International Code Council's digital codes site lists the 2023 Florida Building Code, Residential, Eighth Edition, as an amended version of the 2021 International Residential Code with an effective date of Dec 31, 2023.

We could not read Ocala's Code of Ordinances, so this page cannot say whether the city has local amendments that change the dryer duct rules.

Under the Florida Building Code, Residential, a dryer exhaust duct can run at most 35 feet, minus an allowance for each elbow (M1502.4.5.1), or the length the dryer maker's installation instructions allow (M1502.4.5.2); the hose behind the dryer must be one listed piece of 8 feet or less (M1502.4.3); and the duct must end outside with a backdraft damper and no screen (M1502.3), and domestic booster fans are not allowed (M1502.4.8). Check a run with the dryer vent length calculator.
